Baseball Recap: Cardinal Gibbons Triumphs

Cardinal Gibbons won the last time they faced American Heritage and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Chiefs skirted past the Patriots 4-3.

Jack Campbell looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Randy Petron, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Douglas, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Cardinal Gibbons' victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for American Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cardinal Gibbons will welcome Chaminade-Madonna at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Chiefs surely won't give up without a fight. As for American Heritage, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against West Broward at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 3.4, the Bobcats 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
