Softball Game Preview: Mason Comets vs. Lakota West Firebirds

The Mason Comets will head out to take on the Lakota West Firebirds at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Mason is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Mason had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Fairfield two weeks ago. The Comets blew past the Indians 13-3. Considering the Comets have won three games by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Lakota West's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fairfield.

Paige Kopp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Claire Wilburn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Lakota West's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Mason, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Everything went Mason's way against Lakota West in their previous matchup back in April, as Mason made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
