Softball Preview: Crestwood Red Devils vs. Valley Forge Patriots
The Crestwood Red Devils will face off against the Valley Forge Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Crestwood is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Thursday. They took a 19-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rootstown. Even though they lost, the Red Devils' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.5 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Jocelyn Johnson and Bella Stier did some serious damage despite the final result: Johnson went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Stier went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Abby Hayes, who went 1-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Valley Forge can bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. Everything went their way against Bard Early College as they made off with a 12-3 win. The Patriots not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 23-11).
Valley Forge's victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Crestwood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
