Basketball Recap: Willamette Wolverines vs. Sheldon Irish

Willamette extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-14. They received a blow as they fell 63-49 to the Sheldon Irish. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Irish this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-52 two weeks ago.

As for Sheldon, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sheldon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kai Holmes, who went 6-for-12 en route to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Those five steals gave Holmes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kai Gallic, who posted six points along with 12 assists and three steals.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Willamette is set to face off against their familiar foe Roseburg at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Sheldon will take on rival South Medford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
