Baseball Game Preview: Benavides Eagles vs. Knippa Crushers

For the second straight game, Benavides will face off against Knippa. The Eagles will host the Crushers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Benavides heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Knippa. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

For Knippa's part, Cameron S made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over six innings pitched. S has become a key player for Knippa: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 6-11 otherwise. S was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joaquin G, who earned three runs and two stolen bases. Knippa is undefeated when G posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aj A, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Knippa and bumps their season record up to 9-12. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Benavides, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
