Basketball Recap: St. Marys Takes a Loss

St. Marys was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 51-33 fall against the Punxsutawney Chucks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flying Dutch this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 36-34 back in January.

St. Marys' loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Punxsutawney, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9.

St. Marys and Punxsutawney could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. St. Marys (ranked 522nd) will meet Elk County Catholic (ranked 110th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Punxsutawney will take on DuBois at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 216 places (430 vs. 214).
