Preview: Fossil Ridge vs. Timber Creek
If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Fossil Ridge. They will look to defend their home turf on Friday against Timber Creek at 7:00 PM. Fossil Ridge will be hoping to build upon the 28-25 win they picked up against Timber Creek the last time they played.
We expected Fossil Ridge to have trouble with the significantly higher-ranked Carroll last Friday, and they did. Fossil Ridge have to be aching after a bruising 26-47 defeat to Carroll. Fossil Ridge's loss came about despite a quality game from senior Brandon Lewis, who picked up 80 yards on the ground and caught passes for 75 yards. One of the most thrilling moments of the contest was Lewis's 75-yard TD reception in the third quarter.
Meanwhile, Timber Creek have been struggling to pick up a win, with their game against Byron Nelson making it three winless games in a row. Timber Creek took a hard 14-31 fall against Byron Nelson. Timber Creek were down by 7-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. The Fossil Ridge defense got after the quarterback against Carroll to the tune of four sacks, so Timber Creek's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the match.
