Basketball Recap: Joseph City Skates Past BASIS Flagstaff with Ease

Joseph City had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They breezed by the BASIS Flagstaff Yetis to the tune of 84-49. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Joseph City was led to victory by Eli James and Jaimen Tsosie. James went 12 of 20 en route to 24 points along with six steals and five rebounds, while Tsosie went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points. James' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Landon Miller was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Joseph City was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as BASIS Flagstaff only posted 12 assists.

BASIS Flagstaff's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Quiroz, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Quiroz is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexei Barrow, who posted eight points and five boards.

Joseph City is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for BASIS Flagstaff, they dropped their record down to 10-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Joseph City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 89-44 victory against Grand Canyon on the 24th. BASIS Flagstaff has also already played their next game, a 29-28 loss against Rock Point on the 25th.
