Valley Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pioneer Valley Panthers. On the bright side, the 45- point effort marked the Lions' highest-scoring matchup to date.

When it comes to explaining why Valley Christian Academy lost, don't look at Katelyn Mikkelson. Despite the final result, she posted 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 51.1% of the Lions' points, marking the fourth time in a row Mikkelson has scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Fortier, who put up ten points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Valley Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Pioneer Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Christian Academy will host Coast Union at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pioneer Valley, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against McFarland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
