Mount Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They suffered a tough 86-63 defeat at the hands of Ellenville on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mount Academy in their matchups with Ellenville: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Mount Academy had strong showings from Jake Maendel, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Dennis Hofer, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Maendel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Meier, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Onteora got the win against Pine Plains on Friday by a conclusive 56-31.
Mount Academy's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3. As for Onteora, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
