Baseball Recap: Regents Wins Going Away Against Westover Christian Academy

After only two runs in their last game, Regents made sure to put some runs up on the board against Westover Christian Academy on Monday. The Lions put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Lions have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Peter Mierzejewski and Tucker Jamison made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mierzejewski pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Jamison pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mierzejewski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Mierzejewski went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Jamison went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Mierzejewski has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joseph Porter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Regents: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. James Rebolledo also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Regents pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Westover Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

As of now, neither Regents nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
