Soccer Game Preview: Chugiak vs. Wasilla

The Chugiak Mustangs will take on the Wasilla Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Chugiak is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Service 5-2. The result was nothing new for Chugiak, who have now won ten matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Wasilla faced Juneau-Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Crimson Bears 2-1. Wasilla wouldn't have won without Lainey Kroon, who scored the game-winner.

Chugiak has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those seven contests. As for Wasilla, their win bumped their record up to 11-4-3.

Chugiak couldn't quite get it done against Wasilla in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
