Softball Recap: Old Forge Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Old Forge never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans. Considering the Blue Devils have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kamryn Notari made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joselyn DeStefano, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Danica Pritchyk, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

Old Forge's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Greater Nanticoke Area, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Coming up, Old Forge will venture away from home to take on Riverside at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.53 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greater Nanticoke Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Elk Lake at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Trojans will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
