Soccer Game Preview: Fairhope vs. Davidson

The Fairhope Pirates will challenge the Davidson Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Fairhope is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Baker a 1-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for Fairhope.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Davidson sidestepped Foley for a 2-1 win. Given Davidson's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Foley are ranked 62nd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Davidson is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6-3 record this season. As for Fairhope, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7-1.

Fairhope beat Davidson 2-0 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
