It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Edcouch-Elsa ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lopez Lobos 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellowjackets have posted since February 27th.

Nathan Garza was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Zack Sanchez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Edcouch-Elsa's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-16. As for Lopez, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Edcouch-Elsa will take on rival Donna at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Lopez is set to square off against their familiar foe Mercedes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
