Football Game Preview: Dixon Bulldogs vs. Richlands Wildcats

The Dixon Bulldogs will challenge the Richlands Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Dixon's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Richlands has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Things were looking good for Dixon after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 50-39 to Northside - Jacksonville. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Monarchs are ranked 77th).

Despite the loss, Dixon got top-tier performance from JJ Gulat, who rushed for 235 yards and four touchdowns. Gulat's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 14th straight game with at least 103 rushing yards dating back to last season. Sean Delaney was another key rusher, rushing for 109 yards and one TD on only 13 carries.

Meanwhile, Richlands also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to West Carteret by a score of 34-21. The Wildcats were down 34-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Richlands' defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Dixon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Dixon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 489.5 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Richlands, though, as they've been averaging only 21.5 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
