Basketball Recap: Box Elder Beats Roy for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Box Elder waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They snuck past the Roy Royals with a 58-52 win. This was payback for the Bees, who suffered a 65-63 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Box Elder's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gunner Gunderson, who went 6 of 11 en route to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Gunderson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Jenson, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Roy lost, don't look at Jesse Jones. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Colby Frokjer was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Box Elder's record now sits at 4-12. As for Roy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Box Elder will head out on the road to square off against Bountiful at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bountiful knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 contests -- so hopefully Box Elder likes a good challenge. As for Roy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Viewmont at 7:00 p.m. Viewmont will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Roy surely won't give up without a fight.
