Baseball Game Preview: Heights Falcons vs. Northwest Grizzlies

The Heights Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Northwest Grizzlies at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Friday just wasn't the day for Heights' offense. They fell just short of Blue Valley West by a score of 2-0 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Falcons have suffered since April 26, 2024.

Clayton Rittel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Heights is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Heights saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Aaron, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Northwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Kapaun Mt. Carmel.

Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Heights, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-9-1.

Everything went Heights' way against Northwest in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Heights made off with a 9-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
