Baseball Game Preview: Fort Mill Yellow Jackets vs. Catawba Ridge Copperheads

The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets will face off against the Catawba Ridge Copperheads at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Fort Mill 2.4, Catawba Ridge 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Fort Mill took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Catawba Ridge a 5-0 shutout.

Alex Carreiro tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Pettit, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Blankinship, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Fort Mill's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Catawba Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1.
