The Bronte Longhorns will head out to face off against the Rule Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Bronte can't be to happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Thursday. They came up short against Santa Anna, falling 42-22.
Meanwhile, everything went Rule's way against Northside on Friday as Rule made off with a 44-19 victory. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Bobcats just coasted through the last quarter.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kyleik Mason and he. Mason gained 135 total yards and five touchdowns while he gained 135 total yards and five touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Rule's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Hayden Tevino. His also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up three sacks and making six total tackles (5.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.
Everything came up roses for Bronte against Rule when the teams last played back in September of 2023 as the squad secured a 52-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bronte since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
