Sayre has gone 9-1 against Cowanesque Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Sayre will look to defend their home field against Cowanesque Valley at 3:30 p.m. Sayre, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Cowanesque Valley's (thus far) undefeated season.
Sayre lost 16-1 to Loyalsock Township on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Redskins have lost by exactly 15 runs.
Meanwhile, Cowanesque Valley won against Canton last Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Cowanesque Valley put the hurt on Williamson with a sharp 12-2 victory.
Loagan Stickler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lucas Hamilton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Ayren Morgan was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Cowanesque Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williamson only posted an OBP of .333.
Sayre's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Cowanesque Valley, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sayre has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cowanesque Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
