Basketball Recap: Clarke Central's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Clarke Central waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They managed a 52-47 win over the Alcovy Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Gladiators: when they faced off against the Tigers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 35-33 defeat.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janae Hutcherson, who posted 13 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Hutcherson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Pollett, who went 5 for 12 en route to 13 points.

Clarke Central is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Alcovy, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Clarke Central has already played their next game (against Jackson County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Alcovy will be playing at home against Winder-Barrow at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th.
