Basketball Recap: Hali Harris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Steward over Norfolk Christian

Steward and Norfolk Christian squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Steward had to settle for second. They fell 65-55 to the Norfolk Christian Ambassadors. The Spartans have struggled against the Ambassadors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Steward's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hali Harris, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Harris has posted since back in December of 2024. Lilly Thoman was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to eight assists and seven rebounds.

Norfolk Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abuna Ruop, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 18 boards. Ruop has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Keira Kilkenny, who shot 46% from the field on her way to 19 points and eight rebounds.

Steward's loss dropped their record down to 18-12. As for Norfolk Christian, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 24-2.
