Basketball Recap: Torrey Pines Snags 14th Win in Last 15 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Torrey Pines rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Santa Margarita Eagles by a score of 66-59. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 56-50 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Torrey Pines was led to victory by Cody Shen and Tevaris Green. Shen shot 71% from the field en route to 26 points and five rebounds, while Green went 5-for-10 to rack up 20 points along with five assists and five boards. That's the most points Green has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zain Mehio, who scored nine points.

Torrey Pines has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-6 record this season. This is the second loss in a row for Santa Margarita and nudges their season record down to 23-9.

Looking ahead, Torrey Pines is taking a road trip to square off against Mira Costa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mira Costa knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Torrey Pines likes a good challenge. Santa Margarita does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
