Northside and Amundsen are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will host the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Northside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
On Saturday, Northside didn't have quite enough to beat Regina Dominican and fell 7-6.
Jilliyn Yung made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Abigail Syslo was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Amundsen hadn't done well against Fenton recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Vikings blew past the Bison 9-1. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
Cassidy Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ashley Ellevog, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anneliese Otero, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
Amundsen pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Northside, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Amundsen struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northside might still be hurting after the 15-2 defeat they got from Amundsen when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
