Preview: Trinity Classical Academy Knights vs. Western Christian Fighting Lancers
The Trinity Classical Academy Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Western Christian Fighting Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Trinity Classical Academy and three for Western Christian.
Last Saturday, Trinity Classical Academy had to suffer through a rough 47-7 loss at the hands of Capistrano Valley Christian. While losing is never fun, Trinity Classical Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 907th, while Capistrano Valley Christian is ranked 395th).
Meanwhile, Western Christian pushed their score all the way to 31 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 44-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Linfield Christian.
Despite the defeat, Western Christian had strong showings from JJ Hooper, who picked up 201 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Jared Doolittle, who threw for 317 yards and four touchdowns. Hooper's longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards.
Trinity Classical Academy's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Arrowhead Christian and 8-1 Arleta (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.6% over those games). As for Western Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Trinity Classical Academy suffered a grim 36-12 defeat to Western Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Trinity Classical Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
