Soccer Game Preview: Pittsburg vs. Lick-Wilmerding

The Pittsburg Pirates will face off against the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pittsburg is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.

Pittsburg's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Antioch by a score of 2-0. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Panthers are ranked 859th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

ARTURO GONZALEZ and AARON MEDINA scored both of Pittsburg's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Lick-Wilmerding entered their game against University on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Lick-Wilmerding fell just short of University by a score of 2-1.

Pittsburg's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those five contests. As for Lick-Wilmerding, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
