Softball Recap: Quitman Comes Up Short

Quitman extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 15-9. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of D'Arbonne Woods. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wolverines have suffered since April 11, 2025.

Maggie Guyotte was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

As for D'Arbonne Woods, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 14th.

On D'Arbonne Woods' side, they got a massive performance out of Charley Alford, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Alford has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Joley Bennett, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Quitman will venture away from home to challenge Simsboro at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for D'Arbonne Woods, they will be playing at home against Calvary Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers' pitching crew has only allowed 0.9 runs per game this season, so D'Arbonne Woods' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
