Basketball Game Preview: Lovington Wildcats vs. Roswell Coyotes

The Lovington Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Roswell Coyotes at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lovington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Lovington ended up a good deal behind Carlsbad and lost 49-31. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Lovington's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kayle Covington, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds, and Ondalis Cardenas, who posted six points.

Meanwhile, Roswell entered their tilt with Rio Rancho on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Rams 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Coyotes have posted since December 26, 2024.

Roswell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.1 points per game. As for Lovington, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.

Lovington took a serious blow against Roswell in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 81-48. Can Lovington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
