Softball Recap: Leto Wins Going Away Against Middleton

Leto won against Blake on Thursday with 23 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Falcons blew past the Middleton Tigers 23-8. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 10-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leto got a massive performance out of Jayla Fernandez, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. What's more, Fernandez posted three hits, the most she's had since back in March. Brooklynn Duran was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Leto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.6.

Leto is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Middleton, they dropped their record down to 0-18 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Leto will head out to face off against Blake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons are facing the Yellow Jackets at the right time seeing as the Yellow Jackets are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Middleton, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Plant City at 7:00 p.m. The Raiders will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
