Baseball Recap: West Harrison Takes a Loss

West Harrison extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 10-10. They came up short against the Ocean Springs Greyhounds, falling 9-3. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greyhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2019.

West Harrison saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Gazzier, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another was Kenny Linell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Ocean Springs, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Ocean Springs' side, they gave Manny Huffman the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Huffman has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tristan Fox was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Cole McNally also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

While West Harrison had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
