Softball Recap: Conotton Valley Beats Meadowbrook for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Conotton Valley extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 26-4 in the process. They came out on top against the Meadowbrook Colts by a score of 10-7. Conotton Valley's victory was all the more impressive since the Colts were averaging only 3.79 runs allowed on the season.

Maddison Kelley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off three doubles, four RBI, and one triple while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Kelley, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

As for Meadowbrook, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-7. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.79 runs allowed.

On Meadowbrook's side, Chloe Callahan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Conotton Valley and Meadowbrook are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Rockets will square off against Notre Dame at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Titans' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Conotton Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Meadowbrook, they will take on Logan Elm at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Colts 3.8, the Braves 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
