Softball Game Preview: Bourne Canalmen vs. Upper Cape Cod RVT Rams

The Bourne Canalmen will venture away from home to take on the Upper Cape Cod RVT Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Bourne has given up an average of 15.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Bourne came up short against Monomoy on Thursday, falling 15-4. The Canalmen haven't had much luck with the Sharks recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Upper Cape Cod RVT and South Shore Vo-Tech meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Rams lost 26-6 to the Vikings.

Upper Cape Cod RVT saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nevaeh Merritt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another was Brooklyn Kutil, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Bourne's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Upper Cape Cod RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Bourne got the 'W' when the teams last played on Wednesday against Upper Cape Cod RVT by a conclusive 16-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Canalmen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
