Basketball Recap: Mt. Hope Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Tiverton

On Thursday, Mt. Hope faced Tiverton in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Mt. Hope Huskies took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tiverton Tigers. The Huskies were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Tiverton found their leader in sophomore Sara Poland, who went 8-for-20 en route to 24 points and six boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Poland has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jah'Niece Branch, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Mt. Hope's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Tiverton, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 16-6.

Coming up, Mt. Hope will be playing in front of their home fans against Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tiverton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
