Softball Recap: Orange Beats Santa Ana Valley for Their Third Straight Win

Orange lost to Santa Ana Valley back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the Falcons 7-6. The victory was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Scarlett Poitra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Anabelle Alvarado was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Liliana Nunez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Orange always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Santa Ana Valley only posted an OBP of .276.

Orange's record is now 4-9. As for Santa Ana Valley, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.
