Recap: Post Falls Trojans vs. Coeur d'Alene Vikings
The Post Falls Trojans pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coeur d'Alene. While losing is never fun, Post Falls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Coeur d'Alene is ranked fifth).
Post Falls' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kailey Walton, who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Brennan, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Leading Coeur d'Alene to victory were Maddie Mitchell and Kelsey Carroll. Mitchell scored 22 points, while Carroll scored 24 points. That's the first time this season that Carroll scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karisa Wallis, who scored nine points.
This is the second loss in a row for Post Falls and nudges their season record down to 7-11. As for Coeur d'Alene, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Lake City the next time they take the court. Coeur d'Alene will host Lake City at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while Post Falls will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th.
