Basketball Game Preview: Keenan Raiders vs. Powdersville Patriots

The Keenan Raiders will challenge the Powdersville Patriots at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Keenan comes in on 14 and Powdersville on four.

Keenan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 victory over Loris. The 42-point effort marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Keenan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Antoine Caughman Jr, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 17 points and six boards. Caughman Jr is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Broderick Anderson Jr was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Keenan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 24 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Powdersville posted their closest win since February 27, 2024 on Friday. They slipped by Christ Church Episcopal 58-57.

Keenan pushed their record up to 21-8 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points over those games. As for Powdersville, their win bumped their record up to 21-9.

Keenan took their victory against Powdersville in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 by a conclusive 63-39. Will Keenan repeat their success, or does Powdersville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
