Preview: Dell City Cougars vs. Balmorhea Bears
Dell City is 1-8 against Balmorhea since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Dell City Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Balmorhea Bears at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Dell City was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 67-62 to Sierra Blanca. Dell City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Reyes Espinoza put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 32 points along with six steals. That was a full 51.6% of Dell City's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Isaac Estrada was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Balmorhea scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Big Bend on the road to the tune of 72-28. That 44 points margin sets a new team best for Balmorhea this season.
Dell City's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-5. As for Balmorhea, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Dell City and Balmorhea were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January of 2020, but Dell City came up empty-handed after a 1-0 defeat.
