Baseball Game Preview: Edison Golden Bears vs. Brackenridge Eagles

The Edison Golden Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Brackenridge Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Edison's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Brackenridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Edison proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 21) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Jefferson 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Brackenridge challenged Highlands on Tuesday. Brackenridge blew past Highlands 9-3. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

Brackenridge let Ernesto Nunez and Daniel Ramirez Romo run wild. Nunez scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Ramirez Romo scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave Nunez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffrey Herrera, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Edison's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Brackenridge, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-10.

Edison skirted past Brackenridge 5-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Edison since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
