League recap: Mamou stuns Bunkie in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Mamou, who took down 266th ranked Bunkie, 31-16.

Oakdale was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in 2A District 5. Earlier in the week, the Warriors triumphed over Iota 41-35.

Ville Platte's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Isaiah Thomas threw for 58 and one touchdown and Justin Charles had 44 yards receiving. On the ground Jermarcus Jones chipped in 127 yards. Kendall Ardoin helped Ville Platte's passing attack out by catching one ball for 14 yards.

Ville Platte's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Thomas has thrown for 927 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Charles has 23 catches for 391 yards. Jones leads the league in rushing with 806 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Panthers take on the Bulldogs. Bunkie is in sixth place, while Ville Platte is in first place.

Tracey Jagneaux's team took down Pine Prairie 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jones in the win.
