6A Central Valley recap October 1, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to North Salem, who defeated 108th ranked McKay, 19-16.
Thomas Harris provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Sprague beat Grant. Harris' favorite target this week was Devin Rediger, who caught 3 passes for 77 yards.
Harris was a force in the backfield as the Olympians bested the Generals.
Harris was the best running back in 6A Central Valley this week. In 27 carries, he ran for 236 yards as Sprague topped Grant. Tanner Fisher also contributed to the rushing game with 25 yards on the ground.
The Scots' Sam Harris and Kris Williams led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Harris has thrown for 905 yards this season, while Williams has 18 catches for 311 yards. Harris from Jay Minyard's team leads the league in rushing with 928 yards.
The Olympians' Harris needs only 72 yards against South Salem next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Harris has rushed for 928 yards on 122 carries so far this year.
The Saxons are currently in fourth, while Sprague is in second.
The league will see a high scoring game when South Salem and the Olympians face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Saxons comes in having scored 131 this season, while Sprague has scored 136. South Salem scored 15 points last week as it lost to McNary.
West Salem led the league in scoring this week by notching 48 points on Lincoln.
