Baseball Game Preview: Robinson Bulldogs vs. Carson Cougars

Robinson hasn't had much luck against Carson recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m.

Robinson will face Carson after dropping another heartbreaker against West Rowan on Tuesday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 2.1 of beating them. The Bulldogs took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons.

Robinson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aury Greenfield, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Carson hadn't done well against East Rowan recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cougars skirted past the Mustangs 3-1.

Kendal Sifford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Carson is 6-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Corbin Hales was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Carson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Robinson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
