Basketball Recap: Magruder Drops Highest Score of Season Against Watkins Mill

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Magruder). They claimed a resounding 95-66 victory over the Watkins Mill Wolverines. That's more bragging rights for the Colonels, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Magruder to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jonah Wertlieb, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 21 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Zeke Dabbondanza, who went 10 for 12 en route to 21 points and three steals.

Wertlieb wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Magruder was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win got Magruder back to even at 6-6. As for Watkins Mill, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-6.

Magruder will venture away from home to challenge Einstein at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Magruder is facing Einstein at the right time seeing as Einstein is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Watkins Mill, they will face off against Springbrook at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Watkins Mill knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Springbrook likes a good challenge.
