Baseball Game Preview: Orchard View Cardinals vs. Fremont Packers

The Orchard View Cardinals will face off against the Fremont Packers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Orchard View has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 3rd.

Ludington hit Orchard View with a six-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cardinals came up short against the Orioles, falling 13-4.

Chase Bundt was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Fremont beat Holland Christian 13-8 on Saturday. With that win, the Packers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Chase Paulsen was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trent Gibbie, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Fremont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fremont's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10. As for Orchard View, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.

Orchard View was able to grind out a solid win over Fremont when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 8-3. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Packers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
