Baseball Recap: Windsor Academy Takes a Loss

Windsor Academy had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-17 to make it four. They lost 9-3 to the Covenant Academy Rams. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Windsor Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Saylor, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Blayne Bennett was another, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

As for Covenant Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

On Covenant Academy's side, Ethan Mills made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Mills has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Covenant Academy is 6-1 when Mills posts two or more runs, but 5-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Asa Wood, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Covenant Academy's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-1 (and 8-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Landon Sneed, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

While Windsor Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
