Basketball Recap: Cordell Wilkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jensen Beach over St. Cloud

Jensen Beach suffered their biggest loss since January 27, 2024 on Friday. 2025 welcomed they with a 75-53 loss courtesy of the St. Cloud Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 32nd).

Jensen Beach lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cordell Wilkins, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Alexander, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 17 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Cloud to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malaki Baker, who went 6 of 10 en route to 13 points and four blocks. Baker is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted four or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josiah Cotto, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 10 points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Jensen Beach has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for St. Cloud, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-1.

Jensen Beach wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-50 win against New Smyrna Beach on the 4th. As for St. Cloud, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 66-31 victory against Lyman on the 4th.
