Softball Recap: Cleburne County's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Cleburne County had to endure a 16-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Winterboro Bulldogs with a sharp 12-3 win on Tuesday. The Tigers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Brooklyn Hulsey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emma Williamson was a standout: she scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Claire Humphries, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Cleburne County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Cleburne County's victory bumped their record up to 3-19. As for Winterboro, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cleburne County will host White Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Winterboro, they will challenge Fayetteville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
