Baseball Game Preview: Columbine Rebels vs. Poudre Impalas

The Columbine Rebels will head out on the road to square off against the Poudre Impalas at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Columbine is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Saturday. They lost 8-2 to Chatfield.

Matthew Kossik made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Meanwhile, Poudre entered their game against Rocky Mountain on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Impalas came up short against the Lobos, falling 17-0.

Poudre suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 4-6. As for Columbine, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Columbine has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Poudre struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went Columbine's way against Poudre when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Columbine made off with a 14-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
