Football Game Preview: Spanish River Sharks vs. Seminole Ridge Hawks

The Spanish River Sharks will head out to square off against the Seminole Ridge Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Seminole Ridge took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Spanish River, who comes in off a win.

Spanish River's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. Everything went their way against Coral Glades as they made off with a 21-0 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Sharks just coasted through the last quarter.

Spanish River's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacorrion McCrary, who rushed for 133 yards on only 15 carries. Jayden Elder was in the mix too, providing the Sharks with two TDs.

Spanish River's run defense was locked in: Coral Glades could only muster 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Roger Alfernar for the heroic effort on defense: he. Spanish River didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.3.

Spanish River's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Josh Raymond was especially locked on to Coral Glades' QB and sacked him twice. Spanish River got some further help from Alfernar: he picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Seminole Ridge lost to Benjamin at home by a 21-7 margin on Friday.

The win made it two in a row for Spanish River and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 points in those games. As for Seminole Ridge, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Spanish River didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Seminole Ridge in their previous meeting back in August of 2024, but they still walked away with a 27-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sharks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
