Volleyball Recap: Marion Local Flyers vs. Coldwater Cavaliers
Marion Local lost against Coldwater back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Flyers fell 3-1 to the Cavaliers. While the Flyers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cavaliers 25-21 in the first set.
Marion Local started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-22.
Despite the defeat, Marion Local saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emersyn Mescher had 21 assists and ten digs.
Coldwater found their leader in sophomore Brylee Knapke, who had 17 digs and two aces. Knapke is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.
Marion Local's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Coldwater, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-3.
Marion Local didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Fort Loramie on the 4th. As for Coldwater, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Tippecanoe on the 6th.
